£500 Family Mediation Voucher Scheme -Child Arrangements Support

What is the Family Mediation Voucher scheme and who can use it?

The Family Mediation Voucher Scheme offers eligible families a government contribution of up to £500 towards the cost of family mediation. The scheme is designed to help parents and families resolve child arrangement issues outside of court, where mediation is appropriate.

Launched by the Ministry of Justice in March 2021, the family mediation voucher scheme supports people who may be able to reach an agreement through mediation rather than court proceedings. If your case is eligible, the voucher can provide up to £500 towards mediation sessions, helping to reduce costs and encourage constructive discussions about arrangements for children.

Only mediators authorised by the Family Mediation Council can take part in the voucher scheme. To be considered for the £500 mediation voucher, you will need to:

·       Confirm that you have asked your mediator to apply for the voucher and have not already applied for another voucher under the same scheme.

·       Give consent for your mediator to provide the required information to the Family Mediation Council, including your name, mediation invoice details and basic information about your case.

·       Be attending mediation, either online or face to face, with the other parent or carer to discuss child arrangements or any child related issues.

The mediators at Family Mediation and Mentoring are all authorised to apply for family mediation vouchers. If you would like to find out more about the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme or family mediation generally, please contact us for more information.
